Dark Elves (Darkium Elvenia)

Biology

Unlike Star elves, Dark Elves have darker skin. Some experts believe that these elves were High elves who lived in caves. Their skin ranges from purple to black and more interesting their body weight and shape is a lot more agile than normal Elven species making perfect assassins. A more interesting point on Dark Elven Biology is an increase in fertility within the womb of the females and unlike the SE, the DE tend to have more twins and triplets than just one kid.
The average Dark Elven life tends to be longer, with dark elves living until their 300, rather than the normal 250 of their star elven cousins. Rumours that DE's can live until their 1500 have not been fabricated as archaeologists on the DE city of Illos found a tomb containing a skeleton of a DE that had lived around 1465 years. How the DE's do this remains a mystery and only the matriarchs of each family are aware of the practice.

Society and back story.

The Dark Elves, because of their survival of the fittest personalities have to be led through a matriarchal system, usually the grandmother of the current generation. The only recorded family that are in existence is the Nakora's and while some speculate that they are traitors, the Nakora's did the one thing that no other DE family during the War on Orion had the guts of doing, which was to surrender to the Star Elves completely, rather than being stamped out which would of seen the DE's becoming an official extinct race.
Matriarchs are however the elite of the elite of DE families, rumours that very few creatures could stand up to them and survive has a lot of worth. The Matriarchs know hidden techniques and their visions serves as a unity beacon for their respective family, under most circumstances a matriarch chooses her death (the old Nakora matriarch should of died by the hands of a slave she specially designed for the task, but instead her daughter finished the job) and the next of kin on the female side takes up the matriarchal duties.
A common perception (and prejudice) of the Dark elves is that they love killing and torture. A fact which is credible as DE's make perfect assassins in the Guild society. This is not however true if somebody actually looks further in, the DE's tend not to kill an unarmed or unmarked target as they see no honour in such a thing. Interestingly this honour has deep rooted itself into the guild Militaries doctrine of war, although nobody really remembers or those that can don't fully know the answer either.

Slaves

Although most Nakora's deny Slaves, in truth they are still used although under a more Second Class Citizen state than actual slaves. In the Past when the DE's were in their prime, Slavery and mutilation for failure was used, in fact slaves were a basic militia force for the nobles. It does explain why the SE had more justification for purging the Dark Elves entirely. Since then the Nakora's use slaves mainly for pirates or rewards from Nakora Raid parties, although they aren't technically slaves, the way they are treated and 'walled' off, they might as well be.

Technology of the Dark Elves.

Because of the surrender the Nakora's were forced to hand over all genetic technology to the Star elves, however the one technology they did refuse was their torturing technology, which instead TFL contracts out for use.
In the days of when the Dark Elves had their own empire, genetic technology, mainly through corpses that were found show that they tended to meld a lot of strands together to form monsters or abominations, indeed when the unity found out they requested that the DE continued this for their militant wing's , which the Guild oversees to make sure that no further regulations are broken and that each creation is intended for the use that is was seen. The lines of genetic technology with the Dark elves is always blurred, but they do abide when creating new DE's to the max of 2 strains.

The Nakora's

House Nakora (made a noble house of the vassals of Coronia in 2014 AW) Is the last leading family of Dark elves and the only family spared from the purge of the Dark Elven empire. No Guild history mentions this purge, but Nakora's only history does, along with exact numbers. It is rumoured that the Nakora's are better than the SE and their deeds, something that usually gets the source killed. Brutally. The Nakora's though have not really been on the good side of the Guild, despite having at least 1 member in TFL's ranks, the Nakora's run the most successful pirate base and black market ironically something that the Guild tries to outlaw yet always seem to keep it running. Currently the Matriarch is Lyna Nakora, daughter of the old (and dead) matriarch, she is currently seeking to modernise the Nakora's to fit into a different society which the DE's are out of touch, rumours that she's got a number of outer forum members under her finger appears not to be invalid or inaccurate.
